Minerals such as gypsum in powdered condition are calcined with increased thermal efficiency in a vessel having a lower region of small cross section by means of hot gas delivered by a downwardly extending tube directly into the lower region of the vessel. The preferred vessel is an inverted cone (1) and has a lid (3) which is fitted with a mineral inlet (4) and exhaust outlet (5), and through which the hot gas tube (6) passes. The hot gas may be produced in the tube by a burner (17). ". one The invention relates to a device for the heat treatment of minerals, in particular gypsum. The purpose of the invention is to intensify the heat treatment of gypsum. The drawing shows the proposed device, a longitudinal section. The device contains a tank 1, made in the shape of an inverted cone with a rounded bottom 2, a cover 3, equipped with a feed pipe 4 for the material to be baked, an exhaust pipe 5, connected to the dust collector, and a gas supply pipe 6 installed vertically and tank 1, which reaches to the bottom 2. The feeding tube 4 is provided with a rotary feeder 7 connected to a gypsum bin 8. The container is made with lining 9. The material in the tank f reaches level 10. The discharge opening is made in the form of an overflow threshold 11 connected to the convex pipe 12. The gas supply pipe 6 is open at the lower end 13 and is made with symmetrically arranged openings 14 for distribution hot gases in the calcined material. In the bottom 2, there is a conical protrusion 15 placed under the opening of the gas supplying pipe 6 and contributing to the further distribution of hot gases in the calcined material. The device works as follows. 32136- Fuel gas is supplied through pipe 16 and a gas burner 17 located in the gas supply pipe 6 at about 10 of the material. 5 Air is supplied to the burner 17 through the air tube 18 by the fan 19. The air-fuel mixture ignites with the spark probe 20, then enters the open end 13 and through the holes 14 into the calcined material. In the bottom 2 there is a bottom closure 21 provided with a valve and used to clean the container and unload the product in case of accidents. The material is supplied by the rotary feeder 7 through the feed tube 4. The presence of the conical protrusion 15 in the bottom 2 allows the upward flow of solids to the bottom for circulation, which ensures the mixing of the entire mass of material and efficient heat transfer from the gases.
